I am interested in projects exploring how Generative AI can understand, extend and create new experiences from existing media.

Possible directions include:

  • Mid-episode RAG – using subtitles, transcripts and other data to build AI systems that understand what has happened up to the viewer's current point in a film or TV episode, without revealing later events.
  • Generating new scenes and episodes – can AI understand the characters, events and style of existing media well enough to generate plausible missing scenes, alternative storylines or new episodes?
  • Extending retro games with AI – can AI understand the assets, rules and structure of an existing game and generate convincing new levels, dialogue, quests or other content?
  • Rich subtitles and captions – exploring how subtitle and transcript data can create new interactive, intelligent or accessible media experiences.

I am particularly interested in projects that involve building and evaluating a working prototype. Related ideas involving Generative AI, interactive media, UX or accessibility are also welcome.
